Strengthening second-trimester termination of pregnancy services in South Africa: 2021 meeting summary report

On Wednesday the 17th of November 2021, Ibis Reproductive Health in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s Women’s Health Research Unit hosted a meeting entitled, “Strengthening second-trimester termination of pregnancy (TOP) services in South Africa,” at the Southern Sun hotel in Rosebank Johannesburg, South Africa. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together sexual and reproductive health (SRH) professionals, researchers, and TOP providers from provincial and national levels in South Africa to review new clinical and social science research evidence and engage with all partners around strengthening termination of pregnancy services, with a specific focus on second-trimester termination services in South Africa. The meeting was attended by 40 participants from 14 organizations including the national and provincial departments of health, universities, and non-profit research organizations.
