The need for safe abortion services likely increases in humanitarian crises, yet there is little research on the abortion experiences of refugees and internally displaced people. We therefore conducted a study to describe abortion practices, safety, and incidence in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya and Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, Uganda. Understanding the current methods of abortion women in humanitarian settings are using, decisions around care-seeking, and abortion incidence at a population-level are key to the development of interventions that adequately meet the needs of women living in humanitarian contexts.
