Safe Self-Managed Abortion without Roe v. Wade

Ibis Reproductive Health. Safe Self-Managed Abortion without Roe v. Wade. October 2024.

We are proud to announce a new zine for our post-Roe reality. "Safe Self-Managed Abortion without Roe v. Wade" combines context, narrative, and research findings to illustrate how people in rural communities and abortion deserts are self-managing their abortions at home.

This zine grew from the collaboration of partners behind the Hoosier Abortion Access Project, in which Ibis and Indiana University researchers and abortion funds in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky studied the experiences of abortion seekers living in Indiana between 2021-2022 — a time when abortion was technically legal, but not practically accessible. By learning from the stories and perspectives study participants shared before the Dobbs ruling, we can better understand the support needs of folks who are navigating new legal landscapes across the country.

The zine is available in digital and print-friendly versions online and is being distributed in Indiana and Kentucky communities. Our publication is anti-copyright, meaning permission is not needed to print and distribute the zine.
