Ibis responds to NIFLA v Becerra

June 2018

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Kelly Blanchard, President of Ibis, released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on NIFLA v. Becerra:

“The Supreme Court’s decision to allow crisis pregnancy centers to deliberately mislead women about abortion and contraception services endangers women’s lives, specifically and significantly impacting low-income women. This decision undermines women’s ability to make decisions that are best for them and their loved ones.

“In addition to the lies presented as medical facts, CPCs use stigma and shame to try and stop women from having an abortion. Women need compassionate, accurate, high-quality medical care—not intimidation and deceit.

“This decision is sadly consistent with the increasing and alarming trend of the US government to undermine the right of a woman to make decisions about what’s best for her health and the health of her loved ones. All people deserve accurate information and access to the full range of reproductive health services, including abortion.”
