Ibis celebrates World Contraception Day

September 2008

September 26, 2008 – World Contraception Day is a worldwide campaign aiming to raise awareness of contraception and the need to reduce the high levels of unplanned pregnancy and to improve the level of education regarding sexual and reproductive health. One of Ibis's areas of work focuses on simplifying and increasing access to contraception.

Ibis coordinates the Working Group on Moving Oral Contraceptives Over-the-Counter, a coalition of more than 70 researchers, advocates, and clinicians who are exploring the feasibility of an over-the-counter switch in the US. Ibis Senior Associate Dan Grossman’s opinion piece on making oral contraceptives available without a prescription appeared in the recent issue of Contemporary OB/GYN.
