August 6, 2013 – Ibis VP Dan Grossman will present his abstract “Impact of restrictive abortion law on women in Texas,” chosen from over 177 submissions as one of the Top 4 Oral Abstracts at this year’s Forum on Family Planning. In 2011 the Texas Legislature passed a law mandating women to have an ultrasound at least 24 hours prior to abortion, requiring women to have an extra in-person visit. The purpose of this study was to explore the association between the ultrasound viewing and waiting period and women’s decision making, and to determine if the extra visit was burdensome.
