Sofía joined Ibis as a Research Assistant in July 2019. She supports a variety of qualitative and quantitative projects focused on understanding and addressing abortion stigma and improving access to safe, high-quality abortion services in Latin America and Africa. Sofía also assists with office management for the Oakland office. Prior to joining Ibis, Sofía worked on efforts to implement and deliver inclusive and culturally appropriate sex education for youth in Tulsa, Oklahoma using a trauma-informed and intersectional framework. Sofía holds a Master of Public Health degree from Brown University, where she focused her studies on global health, sexual and reproductive health at behavioral and systematic levels, and community engagement and outreach. Sofía holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma State University in Psychology and Spanish.
