Ruvani Jayaweera, MPH
Ruvani joined Ibis as a Project Manager in August 2016 and manages qualitative and quantitative projects in the United States, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. Her current work focuses on expanding access to safe abortion in restrictive settings. Prior to joining Ibis, Ruvani managed a community based-participatory research project that aimed to increase access to mammography screening among under-insured women in the San Francisco Bay Area, conducted research on the role of gestational weight gain on maternal and child obesity, and revised school district wellness policies to increase access to contraception for students in Oakland. In addition to her work domestically, Ruvani has conducted evaluations of a safe abortion hotline in Kenya and a domestic violence prevention program in India. Ruvani holds a Master of Public Health in Global Epidemiology with a certificate in Maternal and Child Health from Emory University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
