Julie Chor, MD, MPH

Julie Chor is currently an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Section of Family Planning and Contraceptive Research at the University of Chicago. Dr. Chor is also an Assistant Director of the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University. She completed medical school at the University of Chicago and then completed a Fellowship in Family Planning and a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After spending two years as the Assistant Director of Family Planning at Stroger Hospital, Dr. Chor returned to the University of Chicago to pursue a career as a clinician-researcher.  Dr. Chor’s clinical work focuses on family planning and adolescent gynecology. She has received private foundation and NIH funding to study the effects of doula support on women’s experiences with surgical abortion. Dr. Chor is currently conducting an NIH-funded study to develop and assess a lay health worker intervention that aims to engage women in sustained use of contraception and preventive reproductive health care.
